There's a lot of interesting imagery in this Billy Joel song, one of my favorites.

On the cusp of Mardi Gras, and the morning after attending a Beausoleil and Marcia Ball concert, it's not a surprise to wake up with a song like this in my head. There are so many great versions of this tune, which made it hard to pick one.

I absolutely loved the 90125 album by Yes when it came out in 1983, and I played it endlessly. This wasn't my favorite song, but it reminded me of how much I need to go listen to this CD again.

It's only been playing on the radio incessantly for the last few months. Over and over. Again and again. No surprise that this Rihanna song is in my head this morning.

I Need To Know

I never particularly liked this song. I'm beginning to think songs we don't like work themselves into our brains the way cats know which people don't like them. Yes?

Must have been thinking of vacation again :-)    I am by no means a lover of country music, but I do really like this song by the Zac Brown Band (with my recurring friend, Jimmy Buffett).

Must be because I was editing a playlist for my upcoming tropical vacation, but I woke up with another Jimmy Buffett song in my head this morning. Actually, it was originally penned and recorded by Crowded House. But it was definitely Jimmy's rendition in my head. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I Know What Boys Like

The Waitresses know what boys like, and I know that what I don't like is this song. Released in 1982, this minor hit for the band has remained in my head all day. Time to go crank up the Metallica and banish this song!

Life's Not A Race

The band 311 is hard to categorize, but is most often referred to as an "alternative rock" band, although I think they're more funk-y, rap-y, rock. Any way you slice it, I often listen to them. And that would include this morning, when I awoke to this particular mellow, flowing tune. The song starts off with these lyrics, which are perfect for a Sunday morning, no?

Jersey Girl

When I woke up this morning, Bruce Springsteen's version of the great Tom Waits song, "Jersey Girl", was in my head. ~ "'cause down the shore everything's alright" ~ and ironically, I'm a Jersey Girl, and ironically, I'm going "down the shore" (as we say here in Jersey) today. What better way to start off a blog about the songs that appear in my head. Every. Single. Morning.
